The search for fast transients with CZTI

چکیده

The Cadmium–Zinc–Telluride Imager on AstroSat has proven to be a very effective All-Sky monitor in the hard X-ray regime, detecting over three hundred GRBs and putting highly competitive upper limits emissions from gravitational wave sources fast radio bursts. We present algorithms used for searching such transient CZTI data, calculating case of non-detections. introduce CIFT: Interface Fast Transients, framework streamline these processes. details 87 new detected by this that were previously not CZTI.

iPTF ARCHIVAL SEARCH FOR FAST OPTICAL TRANSIENTS

There has been speculation of a class of relativistic explosions with an initial Lorentz factor Γinit smaller than that of classical Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). These “dirty fireballs” would lack prompt GRB emission but could be pursued via their optical afterglow, appearing as transients that fade overnight. Here we report a search for such transients (transients that fade by 5-σ in magnitude ove...

FRATs: a search for Fast Radio Transients with LOFAR

The FRATs project aims to detect single dispersed pulses from Fast Radio Transients with LOFAR in real-time. These pulses can originate from pulsars, RRATS and other classes of known or unknown objects. To detect these pulses a detection algorithm is being run on an incoherent beam from the different LOFAR stations. This incoherent beam has a wide field of view and can be formed parallel to oth...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

Adaptive search area for fast motion estimation

In this paper a new method for determining the search area for motion estimation algorithm based on block matching is suggested. In the proposed method the search area is adaptively found for each block of a frame. This search area is similar to that of the full search (FS) algorithm but smaller for most blocks of a frame. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is analogous to FS in terms of reg...
